Seahorses (Year 1) 2021 - 2022
Welcome to Term 1!
Hello and welcome to term 1! Mrs Bulpitt and I are so excited to meet our new class and start learning. Have a look at the Term 1 Newsletter to see an overview of the children's learning. Our Topic this term is 'Travel and Transport' and this theme will run across most of the subjects.
PE: PE will be on Wednesday and Friday afternoons this term. Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their PE kit on these days. The PE kit is a school shirt, navy shorts and plimsoles or trainers. When the weather gets colder the children may need their joggers or sweatshirts to keep warm!
Reading: Please could you listen to your child read as much a possible! Please sign your child's reading record once you have shared a story together so that we know you have read and can give you a new book. We will change the books daily. We will also be sending home ‘Sammy the Seahorse’ with our 'Seahorse of the Week' each Friday. If you take Sammy home, could you read a story with him and then encourage your child to write or draw about the book they shared. This could include their favourite part or their favourite character. We will share what they have written with the class. Thank you!
Home learning: Phonics and Maths tasks will be sent home on Fridays to consolidate or extend their learning. Thank you for your support.
Water bottles and snacks: Please make sure your child brings a named water bottle to school every day. We will send them home to be washed and refilled each day. We have fruit to to give to the children at break, if they choose to bring in their own snack for break time it needs to be a healthy option.
I will be uploading photos throughout the year so remember to check the Gallery section (below) to see what the children have bene up to.
Please let me know if you have any questions- I am always here for a chat or you can send me an email.
Miss Gifford :-)
