Safeguarding Team

Safeguarding is a joint responsibility for parents, children, school staff and partner agencies.

Should you have any safeguarding concerns about your family’s wellbeing or the safety or welfare of another child at our school we encourage you to phone us. We are here to help without judgement, whenever and whatever is needed. If we can not help directly we can signpost you to partner agencies. The first step in any problem is to talk, so if you are worried, contact us by email or phone 01304 206847 and ask for:

Designated Safeguarding Lead: Mrs Deby Day   headteacher@guston.kent.sch.uk

Deputy DSL: Mr Jon Wells, Mrs Tracey Tee

Safeguarding governor: Mr Mick Brazier, Michelle Noden

If you have concerns and it is after the school working day has closed you may also phone:

Integrated Front Door on 03000 411111 or the Police on 999

(outside office hours 03000 419191)

The safeguarding team work together within the school and across partner agencies to share training and new initiatives. All DSLs within the school have refresher training every two years. In addition all staff and governors within the school have annual training on Child Protection, National Governor Association training and Prevent as appropriate. This training covers the signs of abuse, key guidance and legislation, case studies and record keeping guidance. Staff are clear on the way to report concerns both within and outside the school. All staff are considered responsible for safeguarding and expected to be aware of how to record concerns and deal with disclosures.
