Head Teacher

Mrs D. Day

Hello, I'm Mrs Day. I have been at Guston since September 2006, initially as Deputy but then as Headteacher from April, 2008 and have enjoyed every minute! I am very passionate about our school and all that we do. I value the contributions and commitment of all the children, staff, parents and governors together we make a unique Guston family. We run as 'open door' policy, so if you have questions, issues, conerns (or even compliments!), please feel free to pop in and see me.

Mrs H. Rhodes (Year 1)

Hello I am Mrs Rhodes and I have been teaching for 26 years, the last 13 at Guston. I have taught all year groups from Yr R to 6 but most of my experience is with Reception. I am also the Humanities and the joint English subject leader alongside Mr J. Wells for the school. I enjoy singing and anything creative.

Mr J. Wells (Year 5/6)

Hello, I am Mr Wells and I am Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Teaching and Learning. I have been teaching 15 years in three different schools. I have lots of experience in Year 6 but love teaching in all year groups. This year I am helping with maths, literacy and the school rugby team. I am also the P.E and joint English subject leader. I really enjoy creative teaching and involving the children in their learning!

Miss C. Lawrence (Year 4/5)

Hello everyone, my name is Miss Lawrence! I started my teaching career in 2012, here at Guston and am the proud teacher of Dolphins Class. I run Homework Club alongside Mrs Kemp and am the facilitator of School Council, which is a great opportunity to model democracy to our students. I am also Science and Technology co-ordinator. One of my favourite subjects to teach is our theme, as it gives me an opportunity to be really creative with the learning.

Mrs S. Hixon (Year 2)

Hello, I am Mrs Hixon and I currently teach in Year 2. I am in my fifth year of teaching and I am now joint Science and Design and Technology co-ordinator along with Miss Lawrence. I love teaching year 2 and one of my favourite parts of the day is sharing a story (or two) with my class!

Mrs S. Kemp (Year 3/4)

Hello, I’m Mrs Kemp and I’m the Jellyfish class teacher. This is my fourth year at Guston and I love teaching here! I enjoy teaching all the subjects in the curriculum, but I especially enjoy English, Science and RE. I am also the joint Music subject leader for the school. One of my favourite parts of the day is sitting down with Year 3 to share a book.

Mrs K. Powell (Reception)

Hello, I am Mrs Powell. I feel very privileged to be teaching the Starfish this year and look forward to sharing their first year at Guston Primary School. I am also the joint Music subject leader for the school. I am very passionate about the Early Years and enjoy engaging with the children in their play. I especially love reading stories to the children and art activities (the more glitter the better!).

Mrs T. Tee (Assistant Headteacher - Inclusion)

Hello, I am Mrs Tee. I joined the school in 2014 and previously taught years 1 through to 6. I support children and families throughout the school in my role as Inclusion Manager which brings together the roles of SENDCo, FLO and E-safety Lead. I have the pleasure of teaching the Sharks each Friday, but am available most other mornings if you need to talk to me. Keep your eyes on the Parent Board in the playground for news of the planned coffee mornings this year. If you have a question about your child's learning, wider community issues or just a great idea for a parent session, please let me know.
