Hiccup Class (Y4/5) 2024 - 2025

Welcome to a brand new year in the brand new Hiccups Class

We hope you are all well and ready for the year ahead.

World War II

This term we will be looking at an importat period of Bristish history; we will be studying World War II and its effect on our local area. We will be reading the book several different texts including Rose Blanche:

We will be making regular visits to Dover Castle to take advantage of their primary sources of evidence.

Our class book for the term will be How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell. Talk to your children about the story and how it develops over the next weeks.

In science we are studying materials and their properties. Talk to your children about what they know and any things that come up throughout the topic. 

In PE this term we will be dancing on a Monday and playing rugby on a Thursday.  Please make sure your children have the correct attire for each session. 

Throughout the year the children will be given spellings on a friday to learn over the weekand a rolling program of reading books. Each child has now been assessed and Freckle maths (see below) will will have up to date activities each week for their maths homework.  Times Table Rockstars is availableto practsie their times tables.

All children have been given a Freckle account. Here they can practise their maths skills both at home and at school. The online tool adapts to the ability of your child aiming questions at the areas they require a little more help in. Our class code is rmk3r7.
