Ethos and Values
Guston School is a vibrant learning community, in which everyone is valued, encouraged to be:
- Happy and confident,
- Independent and motivated,
- Curious and adaptable,
- Caring and respectful; celebrating diversity,
- Committed to the Christian ethos,
and where high expectations encourage adults and children alike to aim for excellence.
As a church school, our Christian values of Equality, Forgiveness, Friendship, Endurance and Compassion underpin all that we do. We celebrate these values in a variety of ways; through worship, classwork and our weekly celebration assemblies. We have close links with Guston’s parish church, St Martin of Tours and have two of its members as Governors of the school.
We believe that academic success is just one part of a child’s school journey and as such we aim to develop our children in all areas, including their spirituality. We place a high priority on children behaving in a respectful way to adults and their peers and we consider that every child is special.
Visitors to the school regularly comment on the unique ‘feel’ of the school and this is a reflection of the positive interactions between staff, children, parents, visitors and the local community.
